QFolic and QFolic HR, with superior absorption & utilization, prevents birth defects of spinal cord, vertebrae, and brain in the foetus. Folic acid helps in eliminating the chances of premature birth, low birth weight and miscarriage. It also helps in healthy blood formation for preventing anaemia.

Folic acid (vitamin B9) plays an essential role in the neural development of the foetus. Apart from its vital role in fetal development, folic acid has various benefits for women. Folic acid deficiency during pregnancy can result in anaemia, depression, and impaired immune function. QFolic reduces the risk of preeclampsia, heart disease, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Healthy Fetal Growth & Development

Folic acid plays a crucial role in preventing birth defects by aiding in the proper development of the neural tube in the early stages of pregnancy. Its supplementation reduces the risk of conditions like spina bifida and anencephaly in the baby.

Qfolic has biologically active folic acid, with better bioavailability, better solubility, and safety. Unlike some other variants of folic acid, Qfolic does not need any metabolization and does not expose cells to unmetabolized folic acid (UMFA).

Harms Of

Folate deficiency can occur due to a variety of causes, including inadequate dietary intake, surgery, pregnancy, and malabsorptive diseases. Deficiency can result in serious side effects, including megaloblastic anaemia, birth defects, mental impairment, impaired immune function and depression.

Qfolic is a 4th generation bioactive folate or B9- vitamin. It is important for a baby’s early development. A woman who plans to conceive or is pregnant should consume 400 micrograms (mcg) of Qfolic every day to ensure her baby’s proper growth and development and to prevent her baby from NTD (Neural tube defects).
Quatrefolic for higher risk management. Some individuals are associated with a higher risk, e.g., higher risk of having a baby with birth defects or having diseases like diabetes, epilepsy etc. For such people, Qfolic HR could be recommended by the doctor.
Qfolic is recommended 3 months prior to conception till 1st trimester for the prevention of neural tube defects & other congenital anomalies. Moreover, Qfolic can be used in other states where indicated, including patients with mouth ulcers, cardiac patients with high homocysteine levels, patients on anti-epileptic therapy or those who are consuming methotrexate.
Qfolic is 400mcg Quatrefolic per tablet and is an essential supplement for every normal pregnancy whereas Qfolic HR has 1000mcg Quatrefolic per tablet and is recommended for patients with history of folic acid deficiency and miscarriage.

Some people due to variation in the genetic makeup or genetic polymorphism are unable to use folic acid. Such patients require Qfolic / Qfolic HR to fulfil the requirements.
Neural tube defects are serious birth defects of the brain and spinal cord. The two most common neural tube defects are spina bifida (a spinal cord defect) and anencephaly (a brain defect). Neural tube defects develop very early during pregnancy when the neural tube, which forms the early brain and the spinal cord, does not close properly.
A diet low in fresh fruits, vegetables, and fortified cereals may lead to folate deficiency. In addition, overcooking food can sometimes decrease vitamins. Poor dietary choices and not taking supplements result in low folate levels.
Take Qfolic until the 12th week of your pregnancy and consult your doctor for any additional requirement or dose adjustment.
Qfolic can be taken with or without food with a glass of water.
While certain food types can be good sources of folate, all nutritional requirements may not be fulfilled through diet alone. Requirement of folic acid increases during pregnancy and hence daily supplement of 400 mcg is recommended.
