Qfolic is a 4th generation bioactive folate or B9- vitamin. It is important for a baby’s early development. A woman who plans to conceive or is pregnant should consume 400 micrograms (mcg) of Qfolic every day to ensure her baby’s proper growth and development and to prevent her baby from NTD (Neural tube defects).
Quatrefolic for higher risk management. Some individuals are associated with a higher risk, e.g., higher risk of having a baby with birth defects or having diseases like diabetes, epilepsy etc. For such people, Qfolic HR could be recommended by the doctor.
Qfolic is recommended 3 months prior to conception till 1st trimester for the prevention of neural tube defects & other congenital anomalies. Moreover, Qfolic can be used in other states where indicated, including patients with mouth ulcers, cardiac patients with high homocysteine levels, patients on anti-epileptic therapy or those who are consuming methotrexate.

Some people due to variation in the genetic makeup or genetic polymorphism are unable to use folic acid. Such patients require Qfolic / Qfolic HR to fulfil the requirements.
Neural tube defects are serious birth defects of the brain and spinal cord. The two most common neural tube defects are spina bifida (a spinal cord defect) and anencephaly (a brain defect). Neural tube defects develop very early during pregnancy when the neural tube, which forms the early brain and the spinal cord, does not close properly.
